Abu Dhabi launches F1 challenge to boost tourism

Parinaaz Navdar, April 21st, 2013

The Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority and the Yas Marina Circuit will unveil a simulator challenge at the upcoming Arabian Travel Market to be held at the Dubai International Convention & Exhbition Centre from May 6 to 9. The winner of the fastest lap will win two tickets to the F1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November.

“The challenge will activate a vibrant Abu Dhabi promotion at this year’s Arabian Travel Market (ATM) and put the Grand Prix in both the trade and consumer spotlight,” said Mubarak Al Nuaimi, director promotions and overseas offices, TCA Abu Dhabi.

“At the show, we want to get the message across that there is so much more to Abu Dhabi and its Grand Prix programme this year,” he added.

In addition to the main races, the annual event, now in its fourth year, will feature support races including the GP2 and GP3 Series, as well as the Porsche Supercup. Race tickets also grant access to the popular Yasalam After-Race Concerts, part of the month-long Yasalam festival that features free concerts, community events and film nights across Abu Dhabi.
