Dubai-based Jumeirah Group – the luxury hospitality company which is part of Dubai Holding, a conglomerate owned by the emirate’s ruler – aims to nurture the next generation of business leaders with its second National Graduate Programme for high school graduates, announced yesterday.

In line with the UAE’s vision for 2013 as the year of Emiratisation, UAE high school graduates are being given an opportunity to work with Jumeirah Group in an international environment.

Selected graduates will be offered a one-year training program providing direct training and guidance from senior managers at Jumeirah.

The graduates will spend the first three months on intensive courses at the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management learning key business skills, after which they will be given training roles within a wide range of operational and commercial departments to learn how different parts of the business work.

The training and exposure will include both theoretical and practical exercises.

The graduates who join the programme must be under the age of 21 with less than two years of experience. According to Jumeirah Group on completion of the programme candidates will be guaranteed a job within the group.

Ahmad Mohammed Al Kaitoob, head of the national development team said: “We are proud that Jumeirah Group hold the highest number of Emiratis working in the hotel industry, and we experienced a 41.2% increase in the number of Emiratis working in the company from 2010 to the end of 2012, we are fully committed to hiring, developing and retaining Emiratis who are keen to start a career in hospitality and tourism.”
