Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAK TDA) has denied recent reports that a ski resort is under active development in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
“While a natural ski resort would certainly be a unique and fabulous attraction, there are no plans for developing one in Ras Al Khaimah at the moment,” said Khalid Motik, the Authority’s Director.
“Visitors seeking natural beauty and adventure, however, will enjoy their time in Ras Al Khaimah. With stunning mountains, desert expanses, and over 60 kilometeres of white sand beaches, we are able to offer our guests a diverse array of outdoor activities year round.”
Recent years have seen increasing numbers of tourists drawn to Ras Al Khaimah, which surpassed the 1 million visitor mark for the first time in 2012.
To keep pace with growing demand, the Authority announced the opening of five new hotels in 2013, including the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, the luxury brand’s first property in the UAE.
RAK Tourism officials anticipate welcoming 1.2 million guests to the Emirate this year.
