Parinaaz Navdar, May 22nd, 2013

The Architectural Heritage Department of Dubai Municipality organised several activities to observe International Museum Day at Children’s City.

The program included an architectural exhibition, sand drawing, architectural shows and contests, presentations by various museums, workshops, dramatic storytelling and a photo exhibition by the Dubai Museum.

Senior officials from the Dubai Municipality delivered addresses on topics such as the role of private museums and its impact in spreading architectural awareness, and the role of government museums in spreading architectural awareness.

“Museums enable us to discover our diverse heritage and help us to know who we are and what brings us together. Take the time to explore UAE museums on International Museum Day,” said Rashad Muhammad Bukhash, director of the Architectural Heritage Department.

The International Museum Day has been celebrated since 1977 and each year the International Council of Museums selects a theme and develops resource materials.
