Saraya Bandar Jissah (SAOC), the company developing a 2.2 million sq m tourism complex in Muscat supported by the Oman government, has signed a contract with DSA Architects International for the design of its 106-key boutique hotel.
The five-star beachfront hotel, which will be designed in the style of an Omani village, is the second of two planned properties that will feature at the development. The design of the first hotel, which will provide 206 keys, is now at design approval stage and the tender for construction has been floated in the market.
According to SAOC, the contract for its second boutique hotel marks the final stage of design for the entire Saraya Bandar Jissah project – a luxury destination, which is being developed in partnership with Oman’s tourism development and investment arm, Omran and Saraya Oman, and will also be home to exclusive residential units in addition to a recreational area.
The company has confirmed that the design theme of the development will integrate the history of the region and archaeological remains on the site, which it will protect and promote in conjunction with Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Culture.
Sheikh Hamood Al Hosni, CEO, Saraya Bandar Jissah, commented: “This contract is the final step in the design of the hotels and the vital last link in the complete development design. We are very much looking forward to starting work with DSA Architects and seeing the complete vision of the project come to life.
“We are committed to supporting the Ministry of Tourism’s growth plan for Omani tourism and believe that the Saraya Bandar Jissah will form the backbone of the new vision with two new luxurious hotels operational in the first quarter of 2017.
“It is important for us to work with our local communities and on completion; these two hotels will provide a wide range of hospitality employment opportunities for the local Omani workforce, he added.”
