New Dusit Abu Dhabi GM announced

Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi – the emirate's newly-opened five-star hotel – has appointed Kamal Chaoui as General Manager.

A French national, Chaoui brings a wealth of international experience to his role with over 28 years of managing upscale properties.

A graduate of Glion Hotel School, Switzerland with a Diploma in Hotel Management, he also holds a degree of Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from the University of Las Vegas Nevada. He completed his baccalaureate in science and mathematics from the Academie of Versailles in Paris.

A seasoned hotelier, Chaoui began and spent 16 years of his hotel career with Hyatt International Corporation. He worked his way through the hotel hierarchy in Food and Beverage in Casablanca (Morocco), Kuantan (Malaysia), Bali (Indonesia), Santiago (Chile). His promotion to General Manager took him across the globe to Tahiti (French Polynesia), Jakarta (Indonesia), Queensland (Australia), and Merida (Mexico).

Moving into more senior ranks, Chaoui spent several years as Area GM for Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts managing the luxurious and award-winning resort, Banyan Tree Phuket (Thailand), Allamanda Laguna Phuket, and Laguna Golf Course.

He was also Senior Vice President and Head of Hotels & Resorts Division for Berjaya Hotels and Resorts’ 15 properties worldwide based in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

He subsequently joined InterContinental Hotels Group as General Manager and Regional General Manager Indonesia and General Manager for InterContinental Bali Resort, InterContinental Adelaide, and Grand InterContinental Seoul and InterContinental Coex. He was most recently with the Address Hotel Dubai Mall.

Speaking of his appointment, Chaoui said: “I am very excited to join the Dusit Thani Hotels & Resorts family as it continues to expand its brand and operations across the Middle East and North Africa.

“ It is my honour and privilege to be appointed General Manager of the Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi. Our hotel opening marks a major milestone for our owning company, our hotel group, and most especially our many colleagues.

Strategically located in the new business and government district, adjacent to the CERT (Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training) Technology Park, the Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi provides 402 guest rooms & suites and 131 deluxe executive apartments aimed primarily at the business sector.
