German luxury hotel brand The Oetker Collection has opened its eighth hotel, Fregate Island Private in the Seychelles.
The hotel occupies a private island in the Indian Ocean and features 16 residences from 400-700m², all with their own terrace and private infinity pool.
The island features seven beaches, which can be made private for guests, and Rock Spa, which uses products made from ingredients harvested on the island.
The resort will highlight conservation efforts and is home to the second largest population of Giant Aldabra Land Tortoises.
The Oetker Collection CEO Frank Marrenbach said: “Fregate Island Private is in perfect harmony with the requirements of Oetker Collection: exceptional environmental settings, overall wellbeing, exquisite décor and incomparable service. It is certainly one of the most inspiring private islands worldwide. We are of course very happy to have an experienced general manager such as Paul van Frank on board, who will be the custodian of these values.
“After L’Apogée Courchevel, due to open in December 2013, we are delighted to welcome Fregate Island Private as our eighth masterpiece hotel. Every hotel is passionately managed based on our ability to protect individuality and on the shared principle of creating unique moments for our guests. One of a kind as we say.”
The UAE is the fifth largest provider of tourists to the Seychelles and the largest tourism market from the Middle East and Asia, contributing more than 60% of the islands’ annual GDP.
