A Swiss hotel manager based in the UAE has been arrested and charged by Dubai police for possessing and consuming Cocaine, reports Gulf Today.

After reportedly receiving a tip off, Dubai police arrested the 43-year-old suspect, NA, and found a plastic bag containing 0.74 grams of cocaine in his possession. A later forensic report also showed NA’s urine sample contained both cocaine and benzyolecgonine, an active metabolite in cocaine.

Speaking about the case, an Emirati Police Captain is reported to have said: “At around 11:20pm on May 11, we were informed NA was near a mall in Jebel Ali’s Marina Corniche. I and a number of anti-narcotics personnel went and nabbed him. He acknowledged he had consumed cocaine an hour before his arrest.”

NA has now been charged before Dubai Criminal Court with consuming and possessing narcotics, however he denies knowing the substance was cocaine. A verdict is expected by July 29.
