An American man has been found drowned in the swimming pool of the Golden Tulip Bahrain hotel after going swimming at 4am, reports the Gulf Daily News.

Johnson Samuel Wilson, 35, was a member of the Bollywood dance troupe that performed the Mystic India concerts on Sunday and Monday at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIEC).

He was part of a group of around 20 people who were staying at the Golden Tulip Hotel and went to the pool after midnight to celebrate the successful conclusion of the show, said hotel general manager Abdulrahim Al Sayed.

He added the group ignored warnings not to use the pool after 10pm because there were no lifeguards on duty.

"Mr Wilson and his colleagues were celebrating a successful show and I believe Mr Wilson went to swim while everyone else was busy eating and dancing,” reportedly said Sayed.

"We received a call from his colleagues who discovered his body in the pool later."

"We have put up signs warning guests about the dangers of using pool facilities after 10pm, but it is unfortunate when they choose to ignore them.”

"We are following all safety measures as required,” he added.

Police were called to the hotel, but the Interior Ministry would only confirm that Mr Wilson had drowned. It is the second pool death in less than a month and the ninth known drowning this year.
