The Food Control Department at Dubai Municipality has drawn a comprehensive plan to meet the requirements of the Eid Al Adha holidays as it has intensified inspections in food establishments, restaurants, cafeterias and cafes in the emirate.

Head of food inspection section Sultan Ali Tahir said: "Keeping in view of the large quantity of foodstuff that comes for sale in the market, the food inspectors are not leaving anything for chance by keeping a vigil on the restaurants and cafeterias in the city."

He added: "The department's inspectors would be working round the clock concentrating more on the areas where increased activities are witnessed during the Eid holidays. Traditional kitchens are also coming under constant check these days."

Tahir explained that a special team has been assigned to monitor temporary food selling activities within the Eid celebration activities in Global City, public parks and other public places such as malls and shopping centres.

He further urged food establishments and foodstuff sellers to strictly comply with the rules and regulations regarding the safe keeping of food at proper temperature as specified by the civic body and warned them of stringent action in case of any violation.

He concluded: "The public can also help the municipality to ensure the food safety in the emirate of Dubai reporting any doubtful situation calling its hotline : 800900."
