Mahmoud ANasser from Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa was awarded the title of IT Person of the Year 2013, which was sponsored by Prologic, at last night's Hotelier Middle East Awards.
ANasser was crowned king of the IT crowd thanks to achieving almost 100% in Hilton's IT audit, and supporting IT services in five other properties in addition to his own.
With over 15 years' experience, he is passionate about training future hospitality leaders in his team, made learning English fun, and prepared his number two for a pre-opening over in Alexandria and developed IT talent beyond his department. He joined Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa in 2008 and reduced operating expenses of his department by over 25% YOY and CAPEX by 15%.
ANasser's award was picked up on his behalf by Hilton Worldwide Middle East & Africa human resources operations senior director Koray Genckul.
Commenting on ANasser's win, Genckul said: "Hilton Luxor is one of the best resorts in Luxor. Although Luxor is not a central location like Dubai or Doha, Mahmoud was able to implement all the latest technology. He was able to help the hotel to see greater ROI. He was able to bring his knowledge and skills up to speed with the technology of today."
Presented by Prologic managing director Amlan Ghose, the award was hotly contested between the following shortlisted technowhizzes: Krishnaraj Jayaram, Crowne Plaza Bahrain; Mohammed Rizwan, JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai; Lijeesh Rajan, Al Murooj Rotana Dubai (who was highly commended in the category; and, Anita Julie Lobo, Holiday Inn Kuwait.
The Hotelier Middle East Awards 2013 took place on October 30 with a circus theme, at the JW Marriot Marquis Dubai.
