Doha's Souq Waqif to ban shishas in clampdown

Arabian Business staff writer, November 27th, 2013

All restaurants and cafeterias situated in Doha’s Souq Waqif have received a memo saying that they are no longer permitted to serve shisha indoors, and 50 percent of their outdoor tables must be reserved for non smokers.

The circular was issued from the souq’s management and claimed any violation to the new rule will lead to a suspension of a shisha licence for three months.

It is already illegal to smoke in closed spaces, such as inside malls, but the enforcement of the law is quite lenient.
