Jason Myers named number one on Caterer's Power 50

Devina Divecha, December 12th, 2013

Jumeirah Restaurants managing director and Jumeirah Restaurants & Bars general manager Jason Myers has been placed on the top spot in the Caterer Middle East Power 50 2013.

Myers joined the Jumeirah Group in May 2012 as operations director of Jumeirah Restaurants, and took over as general manager of Jumeirah R&B after its launch. He was recognised for the significant changes he has made in the hotel chain's F&B operations.

In the last year, Jumeirah has moved towards supporting ‘independent’ restaurants, and stand-alone venues - hence the launch of Jumeirah R&B, which will take the company in a new direction with its F&B offering.

Myers said this was the biggest achievement in the last 12 months.

“It’s going from a luxury five-star hotel business — which is what it was — to more of a standalone and independent restaurant business, which is really my background. That’s my achievement and I am really proud about it," he said.

He added that eventually, the existing Jumeirah restaurants will move under the Restaurants & Bars banner.

In addition to his achievements with company growth, Myers is also interested in investing in talented and "brilliant chefs" to work at the restaurants under his command. He handles 200 brands and 6000 people across the world.

In addition to his role as GM of Jumeirah R&B, he is also managing director of Jumeirah Restaurants, the group’s dedicated restaurant small business unit. This is made up of its managed and international franchise restaurants, comprising: Caprice Holdings (including The Ivy, Rivington Bar and Grill, Scott’s at Etihad Towers); the noodle house.
