Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), master developer of tourism, cultural and residential destinations in Abu Dhabi, recently organised a clean-up initiative on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Beach as part of the annual ‘Clean Up UAE 2013’ campaign organised by the Emirates Environment Group (EEG).
Over 80 volunteers representing, TDIC staff, Saadiyat residents, and staff members from various operators including The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel, Saadiyat Public Beach managed by BAKE, Monte Carlo Beach Club and Al-Futtaim Carillion took part in the event.
The initiative succeeded in removing recyclable and mixed waste along Saadiyat Beach’s nine-kilometre stretch, including the Saadiyat Public Beach and the Dune Protection Zone.
TDIC Head of Environmental Services Dr. Nathalie Staelens said: “The event was rather successful, with people of all ages and backgrounds helping us clean up the Saadiyat Beach stretch. TDIC has always had a strong commitment to the environment and promoting sustainability within our developments and events such as Clean Up UAE help us bring this important message to the wider Abu Dhabi community.”
The Emirates Environment Group has been running the ‘Clean Up UAE’ campaign since 2004.
