Hotelier's essential items: Linen and bedding

Hotelier Middle East Staff, January 2nd, 2014

From the latest treatments to blast bed bugs to where to find the best bed linen, we list the essential products for hotels this month.

Rentokil
With Entotherm, Rentokil has introduced its first non-chemical heat treatment system for the removal of bedbugs. The system works by increasing the temperature of the room to between 55-59 degrees Celsius which not only kills bed bugs, but unlike standard chemical treatments also kills the eggs as well.

The Entotherm treatment begins by heating the room gradually for one hour, with that temperature being maintained for between one to three hours. Once the treatment is finished, hotel staff and even guests can re-enter the room almost immediately, while chemically treated rooms can be out of bounds for up to three weeks.

With Rentokil’s trained team of experts carefully removing parts of the room which could be damaged by the treatment, Entotherm is able to reduce costs while maximising room revenue.

Prologic First
The Linen Manager system from Prologic First is an asset management system specifically designed to automate linen operations in hotels, hospitals, and other linen intensive industries.

By sewing or heat-sealing RFID tags into each piece of room linen, terry and banquet linen, Linen Manager is able to track the date the linen was purchased, its cost and depreciated value, as well as each time it was washed.

The Linen Manager also reduces labour intensive monthly inventories and improves efficiency by tracking linen closet stock levels, and helps control linen losses through vendor accountability.
