Tamani Marina Hotel appoints Emirati concierge

Parinaaz Navdar, January 20th, 2014

Tamani Marina Hotel has appointed a young UAE national as the hotel's new concierge as part of plans to employ more Emiratis across the hospitality sector.

Mallallah Atiq Mallallah has been tasked with guiding hotel guests to tourist attractions and events and answering questions on various topics such as heritage sites, cultural programmes, shopping malls, and nightlife. The polyglot UAE national speaks English, Arabic, Russian and Hindi.

Commenting on his appointment Mallallah said: “I feel it is a great responsibility to provide all required information to the tourists and guests in order to make their stay memorable and enjoyable. At Tamani, I am looking forward to providing information, guidance and assistance to our guests. I know the queries may vary from the routine to the strange.”

Tamani Marina Hotel general manager Walid Al Awa explained the decision to hire Mallalah was a result of the hotel’s participation in SMART – the hospitality industry training programme conducted by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

Al Awa added that Mallallah’s appointment will hopefully encourage the appointment of more UAE nationals in other areas of the hotel’s operations and management.

The hotel received a certificate of appreciation from DTCM’s executive director of corporate support Ibrahim Yaqoot for its efforts towards the emiratisation programme.
