Fairmont Bab Al Bar has welcomed renowned Swedish artist Peter Sköld with his latest collection Crazy Earth, The Art, which will be on display in the hotel from February 2 – April 1.
The exhibition is Sköld’s first large scale showing outside of Sweden, with ‘Crazy Earth, The Art Way’ featuring almost 40 of his principal works.
Fairmont Bab Al Bar general manager Nils Axing, said: “We are excited to have someone of this calibre join the ranks of our past guest artists, which includes Su Blackwell from London and the local artists of the No White Walls exhibition. Peter brings a depth of raw emotion on the canvas which will find an eager audience in Abu Dhabi to discover more about his art.”
Open to the public, guests and residents will have the opportunity to experience the exhibition in full, on display and curated by the artist himself.
Commenting on his latest collection, Sköld explained: “It has taken me three years to create enough paintings for this exhibition. My hope is to give visitors an impression of fantasy and, naturally to become inspired to think about my art and what it represents.”
Sköld will auction off one of his pieces with 100% of the money from the sale going towards this the Big Heart Campaign, an initiative launched in June 2013 by Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, which aids refugees of the Syrian War.
The Fairmont Bab Al Bahr will play host to another cultural activity this month. The opening ceremony of the 16-day-long food festival, Gourmet Abu Dhabi, will take place on the beachfront Falcon Lawn of the hotel, with a line up of prestigious international chefs to attend.
