GHM has appointed Markus Iseli as the general manager of The Chedi Muscat in Oman.
The new role is Iseli’s third stint in the Middle East. Iseli previously worked in the UAE, and for InterContinental Hotels Group in Turkey. He also spent four years in Sudan at a Hilton property and safari lodges in Kenya.
Prior to joining The Chedi Muscat, the Swiss native was hotel manager of the Four Seasons in Istanbul from 2000 to 2004, and general manager of the Four Seasons in Damascus from 2004 to 2008.
Commenting on his appointment, Iseli said: “The Chedi Muscat is one of those rare hotels that is both inspired and inspiring. From its visually appealing design to the standards of management and service, this resort is a celebrated icon; I am privileged to be a part of it and even more so, to continue its legacy.”
Iseli replaces former GM York Brandes, who will take on a senior management position with GHM in Singapore.
The Chedi Muscat, which opened in January 2003, features 258 rooms with ocean and mountain views, six restaurants, a 350-metre private beach, and the largest spa in Muscat.
