Two Michelin-starred British chef Michael Caines has revealed that he has been studying the Abu Dhabi market and potential "possibilities of setting up a restaurant".
Speaking to Caterer Middle East ahead of Gourmet Abu Dhabi, Caines, who also was awarded an MBE in 2006 for services to the hospitality industry in the UK, said: "Yeah I'd like to look at the possibilities of setting up a restaurant out here."
He said prior to his trip he was thinking about Abu Dhabi or Dubai as potential opportunities. Caines added: "I've made some great contacts here, and I think they would be worth pursuing to see if there's an opportunity to open a restaurant here in Abu Dhabi."
Participating in Gourmet Abu Dhabi for the first time, Caines was hosted at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers from February 5-8, 2014. He has been to the country previously on two visits.
Speaking about the 16-day food festival in UAE's capital, Caines said: "Fantastic experience, hard work but it's been rewarding. There's a huge amount of positivity I will take away and a real desire to want to come back."
Caines is F&B director for Brownsword Hotels and also head chef at Gidleigh Park in Devon, where he has held two Michelin stars for 14 years.
