Starwood Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with New Cairo for Real Estate Investment Company SAE to manage The Westin Cairo Golf Resort & Spa Katameya Dunes, marking the brand’s debut in Egypt.

The 128-key resort, which is due to open early next year, will be located within the Katameya Dunes development, a luxury residential compound in the New Cairo City district. The resort will feature 27-hole championship golf course, and will be the development’s flagship resort.

The Westin Cairo Hotel & Spa will also offer four dining venues, including an all-day dining restaurant, a café, a bar and a lounge. Spanning 12,500m2, the hotel will provide other facilities such as a spacious ballroom, The Heavenly Spa by Westin, a pool, fitness center and a 24-hour business centre.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East president Michael Wale said: “We look forward to partnering with New Cairo for Real Estate Investment Company to introduce the Westin brand and its innovative wellness and lifestyle programming in Egypt. Westin is enjoying phenomenal global growth due to the success of its distinctive wellness positioning, innovative products and brand-led programs, and we are excited to debut the brand in Cairo next year.”

Katameya Dunes owners and developers Khaled and Tarek About Taleb added: “The Westin brand works particularly well with the Katameya Dunes concept and this collaboration is a perfect match, which we expect will create an exceptionally outstanding hotel experience.”

Starwood currently operates 11 hotels in Egypt under its Sheraton and Le Méridien brands, including Le Méridien Heliopolis, Le Méridien Pyramids, Sheraton Dreamland and the newly opened Le Méridien Cairo Airport in the capital city.
