Rotana's debut property in Oman now open

Parinaaz Navdar, March 23rd, 2014

The five-star Salalah Rotana Resort opened on March 18, 2014 in Dhofar, Oman. The 400-key hotel is the largest free-standing hotel in Oman, and marks the first Rotana branded property in the Sultanate.

Rotana president and CEO Omer Kaddouri said: “We pride ourselves in identifying desirable travel destinations and are excited to begin a new journey today at the first hotel to be operated by Rotana in Oman. Not only does it take us one step closer to reaching our ultimate vision but it has strengthened the company’s standing as the leading hotel management company in the region.”

Set on the Arabian coast, each of the resort’s luxury rooms and suites are positioned directly on lagoons or situated around water features and an elaborate network of manmade waterways that connect the property to the India Ocean.

Rooms and suites range from 43m2 to 143m2 in size, and feature private terraces or balconies, ensuite bathrooms, and spacious living areas.

Drawing inspiration from the local landscape, the hotel’s design features high ceilings and a central internally-lit handmade red clay dome to complement the wooden finishing and decorative mashrabiya latticework windows. The in-room furnishings have been carved from desert rock while Arabesque geometric designs and stone archways, constructed using traditional techniques, resemble a cathedral atrium.

Amenities at the resort include a Bodylines leisure and fitness club, an outdoor pool, and Rotana’s home-grown spa concept, Zen the spa.
The resort also includes meeting rooms and a business centre in addition to various business and leisure facilities.
