Ramada downtown launches Hope for Cancer campaign

Crystal Chesters, March 24th, 2014

As part of its CSR activity, Ramada Downtown Dubai has launched “Hope for Cancer”, a year-long campaign aimed at supporting cancer patients in the UAE and helping raise awareness about the disease.

The campaign is organised in partnership with Friends of Cancer Patients Society (FOCP), a charitable, volunteer-based foundation under the umbrella of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.

Samir Arora, General Manager, Ramada Downtown Dubai, said: “Our hotel continually aims to give back to the community through our various CSR initiatives. This year, we have decided to focus on reaching out to cancer patients and their loved-ones, as it is one of the toughest disease to deal with, psychologically and financially.

“We hope to help ease their burden by passing on a message of hope, helping create awareness and encouraging other organisations for support. Also, I would like to commend the team for their altruism and dedication for this notable initiative.”

Ramada Downtown will roll out a series of activities throughout the year including awareness campaigns, regular visits to cancer wards to reach out to the families and friends of patients, participation in various fund raisers as well as providing occasional complimentary stays to patients.

During a recent stay of one of the cancer patients supported by the property, Ramada Downtown arranged a tour of Burj Khalifa and other attractions in Downtown Dubai.

Ramada Downtown Dubai has been actively involved in various CSR activities in the past years including elderly home visit, clothes and linen donation, and participation and sponsorship in different charitable trusts.
