A multi-million dollar renovation and expansion project is underway at InterContinental Doha, with a room and suite upgrade already complete and a new executive wing comprising 120 rooms and suites to be added.
There are also plans for a 20-room spa and various F&B launches, including a new beach restaurant and bar.
Food and beverage director Georges Khalil told Hotelier Middle East: “We have just completed a multi-million dollar renovation that tackled all rooms, suites, main all day dining; bigger and well-equipped Fitness Studio and two-storey parking lots.
“We have also made sure that other areas are refreshed to better improve our service and offer a true InterContinental experience,” said Khalil, who is speaking at the Hotelier Middle East Qatar Hospitality Summit on April 15.
He revealed: “We are adding an executive wing of 120 rooms and suites with a world-class spa of 20 treatment rooms, a Cigar Club, an executive lounge, a new Belgian Cafe accommodating 400 guests with indoor and outdoor seating options, a new beach restaurant and bar which will add a fantastic dining experience. We plan to position this restaurant as the leading place to be in Qatar.
“Furthermore, a new Asian seafood [restaurant] will be added offering guests a variation of Japanese, Thai, Chinese and Singaporean seafood specialties. Butler service and a bigger Guest Relations Team will ensure a luxury experience.”
Khalil said the expansion was part of the hotel’s strategy for the next five years: “InterContinental Doha is already a well-established brand and has managed to position itself among the top in the country despite the growing competition. Our leisure facilities with 500-metre private sandy beach, convenient location and variety of dining options position the hotel as a perfect blend for business and leisure. However, we don't rest on our laurels and we believe in continuously updating our services according to the changing needs and demands of the industry”.
