Westin launches global well-being campaign

Parinaaz Navdar, April 10th, 2014

Westin Hotels & Resorts has launched the Westin Well-being Movement, a US $15 million campaign designed to enhance guests and employee well-being.

The year-long initiative will include programmes across six concepts: Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well, Work Well, and Play Well.

The campaign will launch with the Feel Well concept, which will be headed by Headspace co-founder and meditation expert Andy Puddicombe, who will also be a part the Westin Well-being Council – an advisory board appointed to lead the campaign. The council will guide the group on new initiatives and will use propriety research to introduce new programmes throughout the year.

The partnership with Headspace will encourage guests and associates to participate in simple guided meditation exercises that will help them de-stress and sleep better.

Westin Hotels global brand leader Brian Povinelli said: “At Westin, our mission is to be a partner in our guests' well-being before, during and after their stay and this is the motivation behind this movement. We are proud to partner with some of the world’s premier wellness brands and experts to provide innovative, personalised offerings at our hotels around the world, with the goal of inspiring and empowering our guests and associates. Headspace is a brand who shares our passion for improving the health and well-being of communities around the world and we are thrilled that Andy and his team will be a part of this journey.”

Puddicombe commented: “We are very excited to be the official launch partner for Westin's Well-being Movement. The health benefits of practicing mindfulness are widely recognised, and this partnership highlights Westin's commitment to improving the well-being of their guests and associates. We believe that the simple and easy to learn mindfulness techniques we have developed at Headspace will help both guests and associates alike lead happier and healthier lives.”

The Sleep Well concept was inspired by Westin’s Heavenly Bed, while the Eat Well initiative follows Westin’s global partnership with SuperfoodsRx. Initiatives under the Move Well concept include Westin Workout, RunWestin, and Westin gear lending with New Balance sportswear.

Tangent, the work-space concept introduced by Westin forms part of Work Well, and the Westin Weekend, which offers signature experiences for guests will fall under the Play Well concept.
