Hotel staff and guests at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Dubai, JBR recently took part in a cleanup effort on Jumeirah Beach as part of Earth Day.
Joining people around the world to mark the day on April 22, the hotel also dimmed lights for an hour in the evening, while staff cleared the hotel garbage bins at the end of the day.
General manager Wael El Behi said the initiatives were an opportunity to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the planet, as well as focus on efforts to preserve and conserve it.
“By coming together at the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Dubai, we can make a difference for ourselves and for others, and we were delighted at the response both from in-house guests and from our staff members who were eager to get involved,” he added.
“As much as anything, Earth Day is about education and we have hopefully done our part to raise awareness of both the annual event and how people can get involved in activities such as beach clean-ups, tree-planting, and more.”
In another corporate social responsibility effort, the hotel recently partnered with Dubai Centre for Special Needs (DCSN) as a sponsor at the Family Fun Fair to raise money for the institution.
