The inaugural Hotelier Middle East Sustainability Summit, which will be held on May 20 at The Ritz-Carlton Dubai, will be carbon neutral.
Hotelier Middle East has partnered with Farnek to ensure the carbon emissions at the event will be offset by MyClimate’s carbon offset programme, which replaces climate-impacting energy sources with clean, renewable ones by supporting projects that use renewable energy, cut methane emissions, and support reforestation programmes.
More than 150 delegates have been confirmed for the one-day event, which will bring together general managers, F&B directors, hotel engineers, and housekeepers, who are leading green initiatives in their properties.
The event will begin at 8am with registration and networking, and panel discussions will begin at 9.05am with a session on developing a company-wide sustainable culture. The event format will feature panel discussions, case studies on sustainable practices that stand out, and specific workshops for various departments in the hotel, including engineering and IT, housekeeping, F&B, and health and environment.
Among the key speakers at the one-day event are JA Resorts& Hotels COO David Thomson; Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Villas marine biologist Arabella Willing; Banyan Tree Al Wadi Ras Al Khaimah general manager Anders Dimblad; Golden Tulip general manager and regional revenue director — MENA, Tarek Lotfy; and Al Maha, A Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa F&B manager David Miras.
Sponsors of the Sustainability Summit include Intercoil, MLA, Solarco, Meiko, Pulsar Foodstuff, TCL, Acqua Panna, S. Pellegrino, and Farnek.
