Accor Hotelservices Middle East has signed management agreements with the Alesayi Group to operate two new Adagio Aparthotel properties in Saudi Arabia.

The 200 unit Adagio Aparthotel Jeddah Alesayi Plaza and the 150 unit Adagio Aparthotel Riyadh Dhabab will be developed next to upcoming ibis hotels.

Both properties, which will include studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments with fully equipped kitchens, are scheduled to open by 2017. They will each house a breakfast room and will share the ibis café corner, fitness centre and small meeting rooms.

“We are delighted to build on our fruitful relationship with the Alesayi Group and increase our Adagio Aparthotel portfolio in the Kingdom to three properties,” said Accor Hotelservices Middle East chief operating officer Christophe Landais.

“We are convinced that developing clusters of ibis and Adagio Aparthotel in Jeddah and Riyadh creates a winning combination of affordable short and long-stay offerings for these strategic locations.

“Under the management agreements we will see the development of a 300 key ibis and 200 unit Adagio Aparthotel cluster at Jeddah Alesayi Plaza, and a 194 key ibis and 150 unit Adagio Aparthotel cluster at Riyadh Dhahab Street.”

The Adagio Aparthotel Jeddah Alesayi Plaza will be the second Adagio Aparthotel property to be developed in the city. The Adagio Aparthotel Jeddah Al Malik Road, which is close to the Corniche and features 77 units, is also being developed in cluster with an ibis hotel; it will have 180 rooms and is expected to open in 2016.

Currently, Accor has seven properties in its Adagio Aparthotel portfolio in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar, five of which are under development and one in operation, the Adagio Aparthotel Fujairah Town Centre.

The Adagio Aparthotel Abu Dhabi Al Bustan is set to open in June 2014. The expanding Adagio Aparthotel portfolio aligns with Accor’s plan to open 10 Adagio Aparthotels within its hotel network in the region.

Accor operates 15 hotels in Saudi Arabia, covering a broad range of segments, and recently forged an exclusive alliance with the Alesayi Group to expand its ibis network, with a minimum of 10 properties.

Accor Middle East currently operates 65 hotels with more than 15,600 rooms in the region and has another 27 hotels under development, bringing the number of properties to 92, thus closing in on its target to operate 100 hotels in the region within three years.

Alesayi Group president & CEO Sheikh Mohammed Omar Kassem Alesayi said: “It was a natural next step for us to develop the Adagio Aparthotel on our existing ibis sites with Accor, in line with our mission to bring affordable branded hotel facilities, offering quality we can rely on, to the Kingdom.

“Accor’s Adagio Aparthotel is already number one in its class and well-known among Saudi travellers to Europe.”
