Hilton Al Ain hosts eco event for students

Parinaaz Navdar, June 10th, 2014

Hilton Al Ain hosted more than 30 children from two local schools in the emirate to promote environmental conservation on World Environment Day on June 5.

Students from Al Ain International School and Al Ain Junior School were joined by Hilton Al Ain team members, representatives from the Center of Waste Management and Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, as well as event partners, Johnson Diversey, for a day of interactive lectures and competitions on sustainability and recycling.

During the day, students were taught about basic and impactful eco-measures such as energy and water conservation, separating garbage, and other activities that can be carried out at home and in their schools.

Hilton Al Ain director of operations Josef Mikulka said: “As a Hilton hotel, we take great pride in playing our part in helping to conserve, reuse and recycle as part of our wide approach to support the environment and sustainability remains a core aspect of our business model. It was a pleasure to host more than 30 Al Ain school children here today as we aim to encourage the entire community to help make a difference all year round.”

As part of its sustainability programme, Hilton Al Ain has also partnered with Johnson Diversey on its Soap for Hope initiative, giving guests the opportunity to donate their unused soap for recycling before it is delivered to people in need.
