Qatar Duty Free has opened up its food & beverage offer at the new Hamad International Airport in Qatar, with passengers being a given a choice of more than 30 cafés and restaurants.

Spread across over 15,000 square metres, the offer includes a mix of original concepts developed by Qatar Duty Free, as well as joint-venture and concession-based outlets.

After a number of delays, the airport itself welcomed its first flight on May 1 and Qatar Airways moved all its passenger operations to the new hub on May 27.

“As QDF is part of a major international five-star airline, we understand the needs and expectations of our passengers, and so we have developed a unique and comprehensive food and beverage offering,” said Qatar Duty Free senior vice president Keith Hunter.

“Starting from a blank sheet of paper, we have created entirely new concepts to offer our passengers a truly enjoyable and innovative experience, and to provide them with unlimited choices and authentic cuisine.

“We wanted to create a renaissance in airport dining, and to develop a complete culinary experience based around our passengers’ needs. We have therefore built an environment that promotes high-quality, healthy and authentic cuisine, matched with efficient and exceptional service.”

It offers high-quality food and beverages, allowing passengers to enjoy everything from a cup of organic espresso, to a creamy gelato, or a freshly-baked croissant. The cafe can adapt its selection of snacks and drinks rapidly, making adjustments between flights based on the number and origin of passengers travelling via HIA.

Another new offering is Marché restaurant; open 24-hours-a-day, it can accommodate up to 560 guests at a time and serves broad range of international cuisine using fresh ingredients.

Meanwhile, Caviar House and Prunier, is the only restaurant in the world that produces its own caviar and salmon, and everything is prepared fresh in front of the passengers.

Farggi, the Barcelona-based producer of premium ice-cream and cakes, also has an outlet, while other options for travellers include Camden Food Company (healthy snacks and meals), Negroni (Italian cuisine), Yum Cha (Asian cuisine), Azka (Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine), BK (burgers), Red Mango (frozen yogurt, coffee & pastries) and SOHO (organic coffee).
