Starwoods Hotels & Resorts will host its fifth annual ‘Iftar for Cabs’ campaign at over 40 participating hotels in the Middle East on July 16.
During the hour of iftar, all cab drivers who drive through the main entrance of the participating hotels will receive iftar packs to break their fast.
Catering teams at each hotel will prepare the iftar packs, which will include a selection of food and beverages for the drivers. The meals will then be handed out by staff from various departments, including catering, administration, and guest services.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Middle East senior vice president & regional director Guido de Wilde commented: “‘Iftar for Cabs’ represents the spirit of Ramadan and we are extremely proud of our hotels’ teams who come together for this initiative every year and go that extra step to give back to the community. This initiative is our way of appreciating the cab drivers who support our hotels throughout the year by providing transportation services to our guests.”
The ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative was first launched in 2010, and has become an annual tradition for the group. Last year, participating hotels delivered more than 3000 packs to taxi drivers in the region.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts currently operates eight of its nine brands in the Middle East - St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W, Westin, Le Méridien, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, and Aloft. All eight brands will be represented in this year’s ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative.
