Saudi burger joint shares Brazil's World Cup pain

Devina Divecha, July 9th, 2014

A burger joint located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, offered a SAR 2 (US $0.53) reduction per goal scored in the Germany vs Brazil FIFA World Cup match on July 8, and with eight goals in total, each burger was reduced by SAR 16 ($4.27).

Burgerizzr saw long queues at its venue after Germany scored seven goals and Brazil scored one, honouring a promise made on its Twitter account.

Local bloggers were surprised at the restaurant adhering to its promise, expecting the brand to get out of the hefty discount.

Social media networks including Twitter were used to alert customers, and the restaurant repeated its offer for the semi-final between Holland and Argentina. That game ended up goalless.
