UAE-based Just Falafel is looking to expand into the Indian Ocean region, CEO Fadi Malas has told Caterer Middle East.
The franchisor is due to open its first store in India in Bangalore by the end of the year, and has signed MOUs in other countries.
Commenting on the new markets the company is exploring, Malas said: “We've signed one store in Bangalore, which is coming up soon. I'm not so sure whether we will open before the end of this year, but I'm hoping we will. So I'm really excited to be doing something in India. We've sold into 18 markets, so we have six other markets that we want to open.”
“We have memorandums of understanding signed for locations in the Indian Ocean, so we are very excited. If we open in Mauritius or Madagascar, we have an MOU signed there too,” he added.
In May, Just Falafel signed 57 restaurants for the Benelux region, and recently opened its first American outlet in San Fransisco, its first Canadian restaurant, and made its debut in Australia.
Just Falafel currently operates 52 outlets globally, with 20 more under development and over 200 new stores signed across 18 countries.
