Kcal plans franchise expansion across Middle East

Devina Divecha, August 7th, 2014

Dubai-based healthy fast food brand Kcal is working on a broad franchising expansion beyond the Middle East, after opening its sixth store in the UAE.

The brand was created by Mark Carroll and Andreas L Borgmann, and the former said: "We felt that there was a huge and gaping hole in the industry.

"There was absolutely nothing similar for a person who valued his nutrition, wanted to break away from the traditional fast-food offerings and yet needed a meal that was healthy, tasty, available immediately, and, why not, fun."

Kcal has revamped its menu and is opening its sixth outlet in JBR. Borgmann said: "We are happy to have answered the expectations of a growing consumer segment and have quickly become recognised as game-changers in the industry."

He continued: "In my eyes, we are broader than just nutrition and have become recognised as the brand associated to people who seek a healthier and better lifestyle."

In addition to the outlets, Kcal also delivers meal plans with Kcal Extra, the parallel bespoke delivery service business, which now serves thousands of meals per week.
