Salalah Rotana Resort and Spa is aiming for 90% of its total workforce to comprise Omani nationals.

General manager Claudio Melli told Hotelier Middle East: “All positions are open for Omanis, they are placed according to their skill strengths and experience level. The general requirements for our team members and potential candidates includes at least a basic knowledge of the English language, as it is the business language at Rotana and with international travellers.”

The Omanisation drive is part of Rotana’s company-wide Duroob programme, which is aimed at attracting local talent into the company and trying to develop them within their roles.

The hotel is working with the Ministry of Manpower on its Omanisation efforts, including receiving referrals for potential candidates and participating in recruitment days.

Once appointed, all employees go through “basic Rotana training which assists in being better orientated with the brand, standards, procedures and expectations". "The Rotana training program equips them with the tools to further grow and develop within the Rotana family,” explained Melli.

Rotana’s Duroob initiative serves as a fast track development programme for locals, while also addressing unemployment among citizen through training and work experience to hone their skills.
