Jumeirah at Etihad Towers has been accredited with Green Globe certification.
The property received an 85% score in the initial audit for its sustainability management plan, health and safety system, effective waste reduction management, and training measures.
Additional factors for the certification included effective communication to guests on water and energy saving measures at the property, environmental awareness, biodiversity, conservation, and information about naturally protected areas in the vicinity.
Commenting on the certification, the hotel’s general manager Doris Greif said: “We are delighted to be accredited with this certificate which recognises the concerted steps taken and the dedication both we as a property and Abu Dhabi as a destination have in providing luxury experiences that are responsible and sustainable.
“Along with our long standing sponsorship and support for local hawksbill turtle rehabilitation and other environmental and social programmes, we acknowledge our role and responsibilities as a global citizen and will continue to contribute in making the world a better place wherever we can.”
Other Jumeirah Group hotels certified by Green Globe include Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, and Jumeirah Living World Trade Centre Residences, which was the first mixed-use property in Dubai to be accredited.
Jumeirah Emirates Towers' current audit score stands at 91% - the highest in the UAE and the Gulf.
