The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has stated that it expects to have its previously announced hospitality college in operation by the end of 2015.

DTCM director general His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri confirmed during the Hotelier Middle East Great GM Debate 2014 that the development of the Dubai College of Hospitality Training (DCHT) was going well and that he expected it to be operational ahead of schedule.

The educational facility, revealed in May this year, will provide certification for a variety of hospitality-based professions.

HE Almarri added: "To set up something like this is a big endeavor. We have had a lot of support form HR managers at various hotels, they have given us advice. We have gone through the process now and it's now developing the actual physical building.

We are also looking at options for a temporary facility if needed, while we wait for a building to be developed.

"I am confident that by the end of next year we will have something up and running and it will be an industry collaborative effort."

He continued by saying that a permanent facility would be ready by the following year, 2016.
