Anjum Hotel Makkah gets royal inauguration

Anjum Hotel, the 1743-room property which overlooks the Holy Mosque, has been officially inaugurated, with its owner promising significant expansions over the coming years.

His Royal Highness Prince Sultan Bin Salman, head of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, and His Royal Highness Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, governor of Makkah Province, inaugurated the hotel, which the operator claims is the largest hotel in the Middle East dedicated to the guests of Allah.

"Over the next seven years, we seek to add an additional 7,000 rooms to the hotel. This will be done during the second and third phases of the Jabal Al Kaaba project," said Sheikh Yousef Abdullatif Jameel, chairman of ALJREIC, which owns and operated the hotel.

The hotel, which began welcoming guests in June, features four restaurants, large enough to host 3500 guests, and 40% of its employees are young Saudis who live in Makkah.

According to Sheikh Yousef Abdullatif Jameel, the additional 7000 rooms will be added to the hotel over the next seven years and the development of the Kaaba Mountain region continues.

"Anjum Makkah will contribute in providing new job opportunities within the hospitality industry,” said Anjum Hotel Makkah general manager Ahmed Sabry. “We offer training programs for the employees of the hotel, and this will be a significant contribution to the number of Saudi nationals working in this sector.

"The interior design of the hotel reflects the noble heritage of the Hijazi Saudi traditions and meets the highest levels of luxurious and international standards. The hotel is strategically located footsteps away from the Kaaba, with a private tunnel exit constructed and linked directly to the King Abdullah Gate-which allows visitors to easily reach the Ancient House.”
