The theme park operator behind Legoland Dubai, which is set to open in 2016, has revealed more details about the upcoming attraction.
Part of Meraas Holding’s Dubai Parks & Resorts project, located in Jebel Ali, the park will be the first Legoland attraction in the Middle East and the seventh to open worldwide.
Operator Merlin Entertainment has disclosed some of the plans for the park:
- Legoland Dubai will cover a total of 3 million square feet
- The theme park will feature 15,000 Lego model structures made from more than 60 million Lego bricks
- There will be more than 40 interactive rides, shows and attractions
- Park will feature six themed areas: Lego City, Adventure, Lego Kingdom, Create, Lego Factory, and the ever popular magical Miniland
Merlin Entertainments CEO Nick Varney explained why the company had got involved in the project.
“Not only is the Lego concept already very popular here, but Legoland’s unique appeal for families with younger children is universal, making it a must do visit not just for ‘local’ visitors from Dubai and neighbouring Middle Eastern states; but also tourists visiting the region from all over the world,” he said.
“Indeed, we have no doubt that Legoland Dubai will add a whole new dimension to Dubai’s leisure scene.”
Legoland Dubai will be built in the first phase of Dubai Parks & Resorts, which will also comprise Motiongate and Dubai and Bollywood Parks, as well as Lapita, a family-themed hotel.
