Construction work on what will become the world’s tallest building – housing a Four Seasons Hotel among other features – is gathering pace in Jeddah.
Kingdom Tower, which is being developed by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud’s Kingdom Holding Company, is set to rise to over 1000 metres.
Along with board members of the Jeddah Economic Company, Price Alwaleed visited the site of Kingdom Tower to view the work in progress on the project.
“World’s tallest tower construction work picking up pace and plans to reach 6th floor by end of 2014,” he said, adding that he was satisfied with the progress being made.
Seven of the 170 stories at Kingdom Tower will be allocated for the five-star Four Seasons Hotel, which will have 200 rooms and 121 luxury serviced apartments.
There will also be seven stories for offices, while 61 stories will feature 318 housing units of various types, along with amenities that include gyms, spas, cafes and restaurants, two sky lobbies and world’s highest observation decks, located at 644 metres.
The Kingdom Tower project is being built on an area of 85,000 square metres at a total cost of SR 4.6 billion (US $1.2 billion).
