Crystal Chesters, December 4th, 2014

As part of the mission of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development to diversify the economy, the non-profit organisation has partnered with AMLAK Hospitality to offer a new hospitality training course.

The Senior Hospitality Leadership Program will be delivered in partnership with Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.

The course will provide a strategic view of hospitality that aims to raise the leadership expertise of senior hospitality operations.

Cornell University School of Hotel Administration associate dean of academic affairs Dr. Steven A. Carvel commented: “It is exciting to bring this Cornell hotel executive program to Doha.

“Qatar is at the centre of a region of dynamic growth in the hotel sector and we feel honoured to be asked to bring our faculty members to present topics of critical relevance for executives in the hotel industry.

“We will bring our rigor and research based teaching via presentations that engage and challenge experienced hotel managers to think differently. “

“We look forward to creating great learning experiences and meaningful discussions with the GCC region’s leading hotel executives.”

The programme will consist of four classroom sessions, with high-level information specific to the hospitality industry.

Each session will be led by an expert on the topic from the Cornell education faculty.

Topics covered will include strategic hospitality management, focusing on how managers can guide hotels in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of strategies.

Strategic marketing looks at innovative, practical and profitable approaches to marketing hotels and restaurants to improve revenue and customer loyalty.

The third topic is strategic leadership, which will further develop the knowledge and skills required for senior leadership positions and finally, strategic hospitality finance will help hotel managers bridge the gap between business strategy and operational performance.

The Senior Hospitality Leadership Program will take place from January 4-8 2015 from 8.30am – 4pm daily at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

The 20,000 QAR (US $5492) course fees includes all course materials, certificate, and lunch and refreshments.
