UAE leads regional hotel development pipeline

STR Global pipeline data for November shows there are 644 hotel rooms under contract in the Middle East & Africa region, totalling 151,680 rooms.

Among the countries in The Middle East & Africa, the UAE reported the most rooms under contract, with 40,102 confirmed.

Six other countries reported more than 5,000 rooms under contract: Saudi Arabia (37,362 rooms); Qatar (12,073 rooms); Egypt (7,583 rooms); Morocco (6,381 rooms); Oman (5,836 rooms); and Nigeria (5,412 rooms).
The October pipeline data from STR Global reported 646 hotel rooms under construction in the region.

The under contract data includes projects in the in construction, final planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the unconfirmed stage.
