Japanese Atisuto opens at The Galleria Mall

Shaheen Nouman, December 21st, 2014

Silver Spoon Investments LLC has launched its pilot project for the hospitality sector, Atisuto – a neighbourhood Japanese eatery at the new mall on Al-Wasl road, Dubai.

Atisuto, which means ‘artist’ in Japanese, is based on the back-alley sushi restaurants found in Japan’s big cities, with original Japanese art and graffiti sprawling the walls, and open sushi counter and robatta grill.

The space was inspired by contemporary artists who painted directly on the walls and floors. Up-cycled materials salvaged from local warehouses and yards, such as rusty metal and gnarled wood, were used in the fit out and design of Atisuto. It has a seating capacity of 60 indoor and 16 seats on the terrace.

The restaurant uses sustainable, environment friendly and locally sourced resources. From the furniture and general fit out, to the food used in the kitchen, wherever possible products were sourced from local UAE suppliers and companies.

Chef Aijiro used his traditional Japanese technique and blended it with modern influences to create a menu focused on sushi, sashimi, robata grill, yakitori, udon and ramen soups.

Silver Spoon Investments founder Salem Bin Dasmal said: “Atisuto will show guests the influence Japanese creativity has on its culture and cuisine by offering a fresh and unique menu in an art-inspired environment. We decided to create a unique space in terms of design and the cuisine on offer.

"In addition to the artistic environment our service is based on creating loyalty with our guests by recognising them, remembering their favourite drinks and connecting with them socially, every time they step through the door.”

Founded in 2013, Silver Spoon Investments LLC aims to create and develop a UAE-born restaurant group that focuses on homegrown food and beverage concepts.

Plans for Altisuto’s second branch are already underway, and the next outlet is expected to open in Bay Square, Business Bay, in 2015.
