A major fireworks display and celebration in Downtown Dubai, centred around the world's tallest building - Burj Khalifa - once again welcomed in the New Year in the emirate. [SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO]

Now an annual tradition, and one that captures the attention of the world's media, the event was organised by Emaar Properties and also saw LED light and laser beam displays.

According to the developer, the event was recognised with the Guinness World Record title for the ‘World’s Largest LED-Illuminated Facade’ on Burj Khalifa.

In addition to the visitors present to watch the displays in Downtown Dubai, the event was also seen by millions around the world live on YouTube and on videos subsequently uploaded to video-sharing websites.

Over 4.7 tonnes of fireworks were used for the display with 25,000 shots lighting up the sky.

Professionals from around the world worked on the project, with around 200 people devoting more than 192,000 man-hours to it.
