Marcus Sutton has taken over as general manager at Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, following Ivor Prestwood’s departure to take on the same role at InterContinental Abu Dhabi.

Australian national Sutton, who assumed the role on January 4, himself has come across from two other IHG properties - InterContinental and Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City – where he was most recently hotel manager.

He has more than 17 years of industry experience and joined IHG in 2011 as executive assistant manager rooms at the Dubai Festival City complex. He has qualifications from Macquarie University and the International College of Management in Sydney, and Institut Hotelier Cesar Ritz Le Bouveret.

“Around the world, Crowne Plaza is known for offering a stellar combination of the best facilities and great service to guests who want to be productive during their business travel,” said Sutton.

“I am looking forward to working alongside the Hotel’s dedicated and passionate team of professionals to ensure that our guests have a rewarding and successful stay at our hotel.”

Sutton is married with two children and lists his hobbies as kitesurfing, running and competitive stand up paddle boarding.
