FRHI Hotels & Resorts’ Makkah Clock Royal Tower, a Fairmont Hotel, Raffles Makkah Palace and Swissôtel Makkah have launched the 2015 edition of their annual campaign to recruit Saudi nationals.

This year’s campaign is aimed at employing 1000 Saudi men and women by the end of 2015 across the three properties, which have a total of 3350 rooms.

Recruitment will be carried out through outreach events and via the company’s recruitment website on frhi.com.

FRHI Hotels & Resorts group director of human resources Bandar Bin Maleh commented: “One of our proudest achievements is galvanising and recruiting Saudis in our hotels.

“These partnerships are mutually beneficial. On the one hand our brands can leverage local knowledge, creativity and talent of our Saudi colleagues who are the ultimate ambassadors for the Kingdom and the holy city of Makkah.

“On the other hand, our global hospitality company brings Saudi men and women to the forefront of the industry by helping them work towards and attain their personal ambitions and goals.”

Throughout the year, the three properties will hold employment workshops to spotlight the diverse disciplines and career opportunities they offer. Career fairs are conducted twice a year at the hotels in addition to the company’s national career fair.

For Saudi staff the company offers intensive training programmes that encourage professional development and performance elevation.

Additionally, the hotels have partnered with Cornell University in New York for eCornell online courses in the areas of hospitality, management, and leadership. The hotels also partners with universities in the Western region such as Um Al Qura University and Prince Sultan college.

FRHI has achieved 45% of Saudization across the three hotels and is targeting 80% Saudization over the coming few years.

This company’s commitment to Saudization was demonstrated at the Hotelier Middle East Awards 2014, during which Mohammed Sharaf, reservations manager at Makkah Clock Royal Tower — a Fairmont Hotel, was named the Young Hotelier of the Year.
