HAVELLS SYLVANIA
Lighting for hospitality
Celebrating 90 years of existence, Havells Sylvania endeavours to improve the way people live by enabling them to enjoy better lighting in a more sustainable manner. The company has three lead brands — Concord, Lumiance, and Sylvania — which are all growing, with fixtures and LED technology.
New products launched by Havells Sylvania include Lumiance Optimo luminaire and RefLEDSuperia AR111. RefLEDSuperia AR111 is a versatile LED lamp designed to provide an energy-efficient, long-lasting alternative to traditional halogen AR111 lamps. Offering improved anti-glare light properties compared to halogen lamps, the RefLEDSuperia AR111 is a perfect solution for hospitality applications.
The best-selling products from the Havells Sylvania portfolio are Lumiance LumiStrip, a low profile, high brightness LED light strip; Lumiance Insaver 75 LED, an energy efficient down light with a long life (up to 50,000 hours) making it the ideal replacement for many conventional light sources; and the Concord Myriad LED, an accent down light which is smaller in form factor than most accent down lights due to its compact LED technology.
The company has 18 manufacturing plants in India, Europe, Latin America and Africa, producing globally acclaimed products, including switchgear, cables, wires, and lamps, according to Havells Sylvania president Christian Schraft.
“In the long-term, we see the market shifting from traditional methods to LED technologies and from lamps/components to whole fixture solutions. With our unique offering as a lamps and luminaires manufacturer, we are in a great position for the future. We pride ourselves on being a complete lighting solutions provider. An energy efficient lighting scheme dramatically reduces power consumption and saves money. Switching to sustainable solutions minimises maintenance costs whilst lowering both IR and CO2 emissions and caring for the environment,” he states.

ALGER-TRITON
Custom lighting solutions for hotels
Alger-Triton is a premier manufacturer of contract hospitality lighting for luxury resorts, hotels, spas, casinos, private mansions and mega yachts worldwide. Custom lighting is the company’s core strength and its dedicated in-house designers can personalise solutions according to client specifications.
Natural quartz is a material that has been quite popular in many of their newest installations. Moreover, since LED is the new illumination standard, Alger-Triton has integrated this technology into the design development of many of its fixtures.
According to Alger-Triton, companies are no longer bound to designing a light fixture with a regular socket in mind. Staying at the forefront of this technology allows them to open the door to more creative and innovative methods of illumination.
Projects go from shop drawing approval to an entire hotel’s order of finished products in 12 weeks. Materials are sourced from all over the globe — alabaster from Spain, glass from Venice, and crystal from Eastern Europe. The designs are fully-certified across international electrical and engineering standards.
Alger-Triton is based in Culver City, California, USA and has sales representatives worldwide. It’s recent projects in the Middle East include JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, Meydan Beach Dubai, Ritz -Carlton Dubai, Rosewood Sowaah Island Abu Dhabi, St. Regis Abu Dhabi, and the Al Faisaliah Hotel Riyadh.

LASVIT
Revolutionising bohemian glass
In the space of just seven years, Lasvit has made a global name for itself by creating chandeliers that are grandiose in size and value and manufactured on an ad-hoc basis for hotels.
In the Middle East, glass sculptures made by Lasvit are seen at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates Dubai, Jumeirah at Etihad Towers Abu Dhabi, Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi, Sofitel Dubai and Kempinski Burj Rafal Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Lasvit launched nine new collections at its Emotions Show in Milan, including a series of kinetic sculptures by the company’s in-house team. Inspired by nature, when water transforms to ice, Czech designer Maxim Vel?ovský, also Lasvit’s art director, created a series of hanging glass lamps called Frozen, which were created by pouring molten glass over a dome-shaped mould and left to cool.
Lasvit’s aim is to modernise the “material made from matter” by experimenting with techniques, from complex mouth blowing to moulding, tested in every way possible. The process is impeccable and no errors are allowed. Once the massive chandeliers have been fashioned in the factory, all their pieces are carefully tested, assembled, dismantled and packaged one-by-one for travel.
Lasvit projects span the globe from London, Paris and Prague, to international cities including Moscow, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Singapore. Projects vary from glass sculptures for private residences, to large-scale installations for luxury boutiques and hotels. The company has 12 international offices in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North and South America.

PRECIOSA LIGHTING
Merging traditional with modern
Preciosa Lighting specialises in designer lighting. It offers full-service solutions from initial concept and design to ongoing post-installation maintenance. Each of Preciosa’s installations is custom-tailored to meet requirements of space and function. Preciosa’s core values are traditional craftsmanship, longstanding expertise in the art of glassmaking, and years of experience, passed down from generation to generation.
Preciosa Lighting’s latest offerings for the industry include Muutos and Sound. Muutos originated from combining 100-year old forms and modern shapes, creating rare designs with meaning.
The company uses the latest technology, such as printed circuits, fibre optics, LED or nanotechnology and, in select luminaries, printed circuit boards replace the traditional electrical supply. RGB LED sources create computer-controlled colour changes, and there are even examples of water-cutting technology in the range.
All production is centred under one roof and Preciosa’s technologies allows it to offer clients a wide range of design and lighting solutions. Daily production of high volume blown glass-making capability exceeds three tonnes of glass using materials such as crystal and brass. Czech crystal has been known for centuries for its purity, achieved by using unique local raw materials. Cast parts of chandeliers are also handmade with high precision and thorough control.
A few of the company’s Middle East projects are Hilton Hotel Riyadh Saudi Arabia, Hyatt Regency Riyadh Saudi Arabia, and Taj Hotel Dubai. The firm is based in the Czech Republic but spans the globe through its worldwide distribution offices.
