Melia Hotels International has made its debut in Qatar with the opening of Melia Doha, which it claims is the first five-star Spanish property in the country.

Located in West Bay, in the mixed-use 41-floor Bin Samikh Tower, the hotel has 280 rooms and 37 suites, ranging from the Executive Suite to the Royal Suite. It is owned by Tamniyat Qatar Real Estate Investment.

“We are excited to enter the evolving Qatari market with the introduction of Meliá Doha, the country’s first five-star Spanish hotel, located within the West Bay region,” said Meliá vice chairman and CEO Gabriel Escarrer.

“The Middle East is a key growth market for Meliá Hotels International and we anticipate significant interest from both the business and leisure markets as the region continues to evolve and grow.”

Among the F&B offering at the hotel is Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor, which is also making its Qatari debut, serving Indian fine dining with a modern twist. Other options include Aceite Restaurant, which reflects the hotel’s Spanish roots with traditional tapas, and Nidaaya All Day Dining, with international cuisine and live cooking stations.

Meliá Doha also has RiQQa, a modern boutique and coffee shop, as well as Noir, the hotel’s cocktail bar, while Le Pool Club offers a more casual option for snacks and drinks.

Other facilities include a health club, which features a gym and temperature controlled pool.

The hotel is also introducing Melia’s ‘The Level’ service concept, through which guests are invited to enjoy complimentary food presentations, exclusive access to The Level Lounge, early and late check-in-out, access to a conference room and private airport transfers.

Melia Doha is located ten minutes away from Hamad International Airport, with close proximity to Qatar’s financial, shopping and diplomatic district, as well as the Corniche.
