Al Ain Dairy launches camel milk ice cream

Parinaaz Navdar, February 9th, 2015

Al Ain Dairy has added to its Camelait range with the introduction of ice creams and milk powder made with fresh camel milk.

Available in six flavours, which include chocolate, vanilla, cardamom, and saffron, the range of ice creams will be available in supermarkets from February, Al Ain Dairy head of sales Kingston Fernandez told Caterer Middle East at Gulfood.

Fernandez also said the ice cream, which is suitable for people with lactose intolerance, is the first of its kind in the world.

The ice cream range and camel milk powder will also be launched in Kuwait and Oman soon, while no plans are in place for Saudi Arabia.

Fernandez revealed the company has also received a lot of interest from other countries. He said: “There are a lot of enquiries already from countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, plus a few inquiries from African countries like Kenya and Somalia, so initially the products will be exported to these countries. That will start in three to four months from now. We are still waiting for the European certification, and subsequently, it will also be exported to Europe as well.”
