Sheraton Bahrain is considering a renovation project, according to a report by Travel & Tourism News Middle East.
According to the hotel’s new general manager, Thomas Flindt, “There are infrastructure challenges as it is a 33-year-old hotel. Renovation will take place over the next couple of years but whether we are going to do it as a whole where we close down completely or in phases is still yet to be seen.”
Flindt also revealed the hotel is currently running at 50% occupancy, admitting the market is “a bit saturated, so the fight for the business is pretty tough”.
The Starwood veteran joined Sheraton Bahrain earlier this year. Prior to joining Sheraton Bahrain, Flindt was general manager at Sheraton Le Verdun in Lebanon.
Sheraton Bahrain features 256 rooms and suites, with the signature Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Beds and workspaces. The hotel also includes three F&B outlets, and nine meeting spaces that can accommodate up to 600 guests.
