JAFFERJEE BROTHERS
The art of brewing the perfect cup
Jafferjee Brothers is a popular name in the business of tea and coffee. The company has a clear understanding of the challenges involved in the tea market. These are primarily maintaining the freshness of the tea and the brewing conditions of each tea,and the appropriate solutions for them.
Jafferjee Brothers markets its tea under two global brands — Jaf Tea and Te Reval. Since tea is a hydroscopic product (it absorbs moisture and aromas) and loses its freshness along with age, it is extremely important that the teas are packaged at the point of origin. This is why the tea is packed in Sri Lanka within days of harvesting and packaging has a three-layer film to ensure quality and freshness.
Jaf Tea is a high quality Ceylon tea that focuses on the middle segment of the foodservice market, while Te Reval is a premium tea that caters to the luxury segment of the foodservice market. The English Black Tea, Earl Grey, Natural Green Teas and Green Tea with Mint are popular across all consumers.
However, as manager ofJafferjee Brothers Tea Division Mufaddal Jafferjee says: “In terms of products, the sales tend to follow the general preferences of the market, which are classic black and green teas followed by natural infusions”.
Jafferjee Brothers has recently launched its Singles product where “each pyramid tea bag is individually packed inside a small square shaped carton”. This not only enhances the entire tea experience but also provides an option for the hotels and cafés to display them in an attractive manner.
Jafferjee Brothers has an excellent understanding of the latest trends in the beverage industry. These include a demand for sensorial experience, maintaining health and well-being, an understanding of the origin of teas, ease-of-use, and sustainability of the local farmers and environment.

BREWING GADGETS
Family-owned entrant
Brewing Gadgets is a new family-owned entrant in the business of coffee and coffee-related gadgets. With people appreciating good coffee more and more, there is a growing demand for freshly roasted and well-brewed coffee.
That’s where Brewing Gadgets comes in. It sets up ‘Brew Bars’ in cafés and hotels, using coffee machines such as Hario Syphon, Hario V60, Chemex, and Aeropress to create the ultimate coffee experience.
The firm has also recently become a distributor for Diedrich Coffee Roasters and Server Products, both from the USA.
According to Gautam K.S, owner of Brewing Gadgets, hoteliers primarily face three types of challenges while setting up a coffee unit in their hotels: adopting new brewing methods for different types of coffee, choosing the right coffee equipment, and selecting the correct usage of barista tools.
To this end, Brewing Gadgets trains the hotel staff and teaches them how to operate machines while helping them create their own brewing recipes for each type of coffee. The firm also helps hoteliers select the right tools for standard beverages and to prevent wastage of milk, water and coffee.
Gautam K.S says, “We are setting up a Brewing Gadgets Experience Store in International City Dubai, where people can visit us, see the products and find out how they work. We will be also conducting demonstrations of these products.”

Tea experts share knowledge
The growing willingness of people to experiment with new flavours, and a distinct shift towards premium tea brands has given Newby Teas an opportunity to diversify and focus on bringing the highest quality tea to its consumers.
Tea is still a growing market and Newby Teas aims to cater to this segment with a variety of fruit infused teas and loose-leaf blends.

Staff explain the standards on which the entire tea-making process is built, the production methods and the journey of the end product along with how each of these tea varieties should be treated.
